A long-term partnership for the future of women's football

The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) and Superbet have reached an agreement through which our company becomes the strategic partner of the top tier national women's football league, starting with the 2023/2024 season.

The partnership signed today will be valid for at least 4 seasons, during which Superbet will also be the naming sponsor of the competition. Thus, the Women's League 1 becomes the SuperLiga Feminină (Women's SuperLiga).

The strategic agreement between FRF and Superbet represents more than just a branding partnership. Superbet will leverage its technological advantage, and its capacity to innovate in marketing and communication, in order to raise the competitive profile of the SuperLiga Feminină, implementing best practices learned from the most prolific women's football competitions in Europe.

Nurturing immense potential

Răzvan Burleanu, President, Romanian Football Federation (FRF):

With the 2023/2024 season, women's football in Romania takes a significant step to improve the quality of domestic competitions, especially at the top league level, with the introduction of a licensing system and a new competitive format.

Superbet has proven, over time, to be a reliable partner of Romanian football, and our collaboration regarding the future SuperLiga Feminină confirms and consolidates the steps we have taken in recent years to increase the visibility, quality, and attractiveness of Romanian women's football. At the same time, Superbet's presence shows the immense potential of women's football, a potential that I am confident we can nurture together.

Andrei Stan, Sponsorship and Events Manager, Superbet:

This is the ideal time for women's football to have a stronger voice. We see this partnership as an inclusivity initiative and a testament to the dedication and passion of the players in SuperLiga Feminină.

Alongside the FRF, we aim to raise the competitive profile of the elite division of women's football in Romania, to attract more sports enthusiasts to this championship and to offer the opportunity for new generations of girls to fulfill their dream of playing professional football.

Increased spectacle and competitivity

The upcoming season promises to be more spectacular, following the first-time implementation of a licensing system and the transformation of the competitional structure, with a regular season followed by a play-off / play-out format. As such, 8 teams will face each other for the title of Romanian champion, all within a professional framework, benefiting from an infrastructure aligned with the spectacle promised by the new season.

The teams competing in the 2023/2024 season of SuperLiga Feminină are: ACS Banat Girls Reșița, ACS Ladies Târgu Mureș, AFK Csikszereda Miercurea Ciuc, AS FC Universitatea Cluj, CS Gloria 2018 Bistrița-Năsăud, CSM Alexandria, Farul Constanța, and Politehnica Timișoara.

Women's Football - an electrifying global sports phenomenon

The agreement between FRF and Superbet comes shortly after the conclusion of the FIFA Women's World Cup™, a competition that reached its best-ever viewership levels this year. The trophy was won by Spain, narrowly defeating the England team in the final.

Among the stars of women's international football are players adored and respected by tens of millions of fans, such as Jenni Hermoso, Samantha Kerr, Alexia Putellas, and Lena Oberdorf.

At the national level, the most-watched women's football leagues in the world are found in England, the United States, Spain, Germany, Japan, France, and Australia.
