Luka Postružin is currently VP of Data at Happening, Superbet’s own tech powerhouse. His strong background in data exploration and data analysis have shaped for him a successful career in the telecom industry, before joining our company.
As he became part of the Superbet journey six years ago, Luka has witnessed first-hand how investments in talent and technology have unlocked an exponential growth path for our company, placing us in the race to become a global industry leader.
Furthermore, Luka has a very unique understanding on how culture has contributed to our Group's success, focusing on adaptability, resilience, high ownership and a data-driven mindset.
Luka, you joined our company six years ago and you are now VP of Data at Happening, the tech division of our Group. What impressed you the most about Superbet’s evolution throughout this time?
The people impressed me. From day one, I’ve been surrounded by incredibly smart, humble, and forward - thinking individuals, solving complex challenges and building amazing things.
What sets Superbet apart is its resilience. We’ve faced major challenges - scaling our platform adapting to new regulations, and expanding into heavily regulated markets like Belgium and Brazil. Yet, we’ve adapted and continued growing at an incredible pace, like it was just another walk in the park.
The company’s adaptability is just as striking. In six years, everything has changed - our structure, leadership, even our office address. But rather than resisting change, people embrace it, build on it, and made the company stronger.
Croatia is one of Happening’s main tech hubs, along with having teams in the United Kingdom, Belgium and Romania, while we are also expanding our presence in Spain. How would you define this unique culture created in the Happening teams, having such a vibrant mix of people?
High performance, collaboration and taking ownership are the values that people are exhibiting relentlessly. We’re not just here to do a job - we strive for excellence and thrive on competition every day. People genuinely invest in relationships and in each other’s growth, knowing that sharing knowledge can only improve our collective power.
Everyone here is motivated to leave their mark. You don’t have to ask twice - people take responsibility and drive improvements across our products every single day.
The future of business is data driven. This is the core message of Data Talks, our business intelligence community that has gained a lot of attention in the last three years. How do you see data insights shaping the growth of businesses in the years to come?
Being in the data space at Superbet for six years has been fascinating. People often underestimate how much we already rely on data-driven decision-making today - whether it’s through daily reports, curated dashboards, or the insights generated from experiments we run.
Looking ahead, one concept stands out: empowered self-service insights. The true power of data is unlocked when there’s no friction in getting insights into the hands of decision-makers. The moment we achieve this seamlessly, we’ll enter a new phase of adoption - one that will accelerate even further our already impressive business growth.
Leading teams at Happening means being able to deliver consistent results and embracing innovation, while moving at pace. Did your leadership style change in these years spent with Superbet and Happening? Or did you maintain some leadership fundamentals, no matter the context?
I have changed a lot. As the company evolves, we all have to evolve with it. The expectations for my role six years ago are completely different from what’s required today, and they will be different again tomorrow. I’ve learned a great deal from the people around me, and I constantly reflect on what the company needs, with what I can contribute, and how I can improve. This mindset has been crucial for my growth.
That said, some core principles have remained unchanged. People always come first - something that aligns deeply with Superbet’s culture. I’ve also doubled down on cross-functional collaboration, ensuring teams work together seamlessly for the better of the company. And perhaps most importantly, I strongly believe in extreme ownership - show up, build momentum and deliver value to the company.
Croatia is known all over the world for its amazing athletes, who are successful in an impressive range of sports. At the same time, Superbet has become an iconic tech & entertainment brand, associated with thrilling sports partnerships. What are you favorite sports and do you have any favorite club or competition from all the ones partnering with Superbet?
I have always loved sports. These days, I’m passionate about running (no barrier to entry), but my background is in rowing - I trained for 10+ years, and it’s still close to my heart, especially since I can still follow the legendary Sinković brothers.
Football has always been a passion, even though I never had the talent for it. I support Dinamo Zagreb and, of course, any Croatian national team, regardless of the sport.
Superbet’s partnerships have been exciting to watch. One that stood out for me personally was our deal with São Paulo in Brazil. As someone who spent countless hours playing Football Manager, I always made sure to sign their rising star, Kaká, in every save.
